COLBERT —
Laura Virginia Bland of Sandersville and Robert Brian Gillman of Eatonton were united in marriage at Tucker Plantation in Colbert at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bland of Tifton. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Riley of Butler and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bland of Madison, Fla.
The bridegroom is the son of Lynn Clapp of Eatonton and the late Bobby Gillman of Godfrey. He is the grandson of Mattie and the late Nat Gillman of Godfrey, Dick and Julia Kern and Linwood and Helen Carnes, all of Eatonton.
The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. John Walker of Athens. Rebecca Sowell of Spartanburg, S.C., and Stephen Sowell of Athens provided the music for the ceremony. Scott Harris of Tybee Island served as the best man. Groomsmen included Kevin Carnes of Greensboro and Jim Foster of Lexington. Ushers included Erick Riley of Butler and Matthew Martin of Athens.
Beth Oleson of Lagrange served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Kim Byne of Duluth and Elizabeth Martin of Atlanta. The bridesmaids wore floor-length spice satin v-neck gowns and carried bouquets of hydrangea and roses. The bride wore a white taffeta gown and carried a bouquet of orchids, roses and hydrangea.
After a honeymoon trip to Tulum, Mexico, the couple is residing in Sandersville. The bridegroom is employed by the University of Georgia at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton. The bride is employed as a University of Georgia Archway Health Professional in Washington County.
