William "Danny" Hand, 56, of Doerun, died Sept. 7, 2012 at Willson Hospice House in Albany. A memorial service was held Monday at Tift Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. A private burial will be held at a later date.
A native of Colquitt County, Mr. Hand had lived most of his life in Worth County where he was of the Baptist faith and was an auto parts manager for various auto dealers in Southwest Georgia. Danny enjoyed cooking, entertaining and riding his motorcycle. He will always be remembered for the love he gave to his family and friends. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, C.J. and Irma Hand; daughter, Danielle Hand; and four brothers.
Survivors include his sons, Brian Hand and his wife Joanna of Tifton, William D. Hand II of Sylvester and Jonathan Hand of Sylvester; granddaughter, Macy Hand; sisters, Carolyn Burch and her husband Jerry of Tifton, Margie Whittington of Tifton, and Jackie Stripling and her husband Randy of Chula; brothers, Ronnie Hand and his wife Annie Ruth of Tifton and Roger Hand and his wife Brenda of Ty Ty and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The Minnesota Vikings qualified for the NFL playoffs Sunday with a 37-34 win over the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings will have a rematch with the Packers at 8 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the postseason Saturday in Green Bay. The game will be broadcast on WALB and NBC. It will be the first NFL playoff game for Tifton native Larry Dean (51), who leads the special teams for the Vikings.
