TIFTON —
Eugene Ashley Hancock, 82, of Tifton died on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Services for Mr. Hancock will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Eidson officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Jake Cavenaugh, Clay Dean, Raymond Dean, Craig Schmidt, Chris Allen, Bryan Fountain, Jamie Hornbuckle, Billy Selph and Chuck Haynes will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Hancock was born May 27, 1930 to Elias Ashley and Minnie Hutchinson Hancock, both of whom preceded him in death. He served as church treasurer for many years at Victory Baptist Church where he was a member. He was retired as manager of Hornbuckle Fuel and faithfully cared for his wife, Evelyn, for the past five years. Two brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Sarah Selph Hancock of Tifton; his children, Randy and Sharon Hancock of Tifton, Debbie and Phil Cavenaugh of Tifton, Vicky and Ray Dean of Tifton, Britt and Rena Hancock of Swartz Creek, Mich., Larry and Carla Hornbuckle of Tifton, Dianne and John Schmidt of Valdosta, Judy and Rad Fountain of Bonaire, and Peggy and Juan Esnard of Macon; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations can be made to Victory Baptist Church 3917 Hwy 319 South, Tifton GA 31793.

The Minnesota Vikings qualified for the NFL playoffs Sunday with a 37-34 win over the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings will have a rematch with the Packers at 8 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the postseason Saturday in Green Bay. The game will be broadcast on WALB and NBC. It will be the first NFL playoff game for Tifton native Larry Dean (51), who leads the special teams for the Vikings.
