Armed robbery reported at area store

TIFTON — Local law enforcement agencies responded to reports of an armed robbery, more entering autos and other incidents over the weekend.

According to an incident report filed at the Tifton Police Department, a man reported Friday night that two black males entered the convenience store, Big Jim’s, located in the 1300 block of South Main Street, wearing all black with gloves on and bandanas over their faces. He told police that one of the subjects stayed by the door and the other came around the counter and put a small, silver handgun to his head. He stated that the offender then told him to give him the money.

After taking an unknown amount of bills, the offenders fled the scene on foot, the report states. The man reported that they appeared to be skinny, black males between the ages of 17 and 22, but it was hard to tell what their exact age was due to their faces being mostly covered.

In another matter, a woman who lives in the 900 block of East 12th Street reported Friday that when she came home, she discovered that someone had kicked in the door to her residence. The interior of the residence was cleared by officers, the report states.

The woman told police that a 42-inch and a 32-inch flat screen television were taken. The report states that there were fresh shoe prints in the dirt along the western side of the house. The screen had been taken off of the window on the western side of the residence, and it appeared that someone attempted to enter the window before kicking in the door.
