TIFTON —
The Rev. James Robert Eason, 84, of Tifton died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The Rev. Hershal Smith, the Rev. Mark Jordan and the Rev. Johnny Wood will officiate with burial to follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The Rev. Eason's grandsons, Michael Gay, Lance Gay, Phillip Edwards, Brad Ruis, Jeff Carr and Dallon Walker, will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all attending ministers. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. today in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be at the residence at 608 East 4th Street in Tifton.
The Rev. Eason was born on Jan. 6, 1928 in Berrien County and was the son of Charlie C. Eason and Lisa Mae Hinson Eason, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Faye McLellan Eason; three brothers, Herman Eason, Grady Eason and Acie Eason; one sister, Martha Kate Seagle; one son-in-law, Allen Gay; and one grandson, Kevin Allen. He was a retired minister and was also retired from Superior Uniforms. He was a member of Providence Calvary Holiness Church in Anderson City.
The Rev. Eason is survived by his wife, Faye Sellers Walker Eason of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Trish Eason of Tifton; one daughter, Linda Gay of Ocilla; four step-sons and their wives, Andy and Rita Walker of Anderson City, Dan and Regina Walker of Tallahassee, Fla., Sam and Ginger Walker of Sparks and Tony and Annie Walker of Funston; three step-daughters and their husbands, Phyllis Carr of Albany, Sherrie and Roger Ruis of Funston and Patti and Tim Mock of Broxton; 25 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Tiftarea, P. O. Box 747, Tifton, GA 31793 or to Providence Calvary Holiness Church, 4440 Highway 37 West, Moultrie, GA 31768.
