Rant and Raves for Oct. 18

Don’t forget other

types of cancers

“I am so glad that Tifton is supporting breast cancer by turning everything in town pink but there are other types of cancer that kill women and men besides breast cancer. If you would be as concerned about the other types of deadly cancer as you are breast cancer then maybe the rest of us would have a fighting chance for a cure. It's not that you don't know about the other types of cancer but it appears that you are only concerned about breast cancer. If my cancer was in the breast then maybe I could get some assistance and you would paint the town pink for me!”

Professors playing

hooky from school?

“I'm surprised at how often some of the ABAC professors cancel their class. Where's the accountability by the administration?”

Why do we need

early voting?

“We are told often there are many undecided voters yet we have to have early voting? How is it so many need early voting because they know who they are voting for and yet have so many undecided voters at the same time? Do some people fulfill their responsibility all the time and others only in the last minutes of an election?”

Gov’t is where

blame belongs

“In regards to “Something Needed”, do you really believe that reducing pay for administrators and teachers is the answer? Those educators making over 65K have completed 6 or more years of college with higher degrees and have worked for years in education. Any other profession with that much experience and higher degrees make much more! Thank them for educating our children while receiving furlough days and no cost of living raises. Quit putting the problem off on those that work in the profession, and put the blame where it belongs - the government. Consider the decisions made by governmental officials when voting in November.”

Public schools

need competition

“Public schools need competition. Its that simple. Teachers in public schools cant have printers and have been asked to not to take the tiny little raise they get. Meanwhile the superintendent did not volunteer to give up pay. How many high paid administrative positions to you need in a school? Two or three teachers could be hired by getting rid of one assistant principal. Parents need a choice that the superintendent cant have a say in because his answer will be no. And that wont even be face to face.”
