TIFTON —
In a battle of the Rebels, the Turner County Rebels defeated the Berrien High Rebels, 35-8, Friday night in Nashville.
Tederick Moore opened the scoring for Turner in the first quarter on a 12-yard run. The score capped off a 92-yard drive.
Turner’s next score came on a Luke Soliday pass to Xavier Thomas for six yards. Kendall Kicklighter caught a 2-point conversion pass.
Turner scored again in the third quarter on a 20-yard return of a fumble recovery by Quan Williams.
Mark Lamb would then score for Turner on a 10-yard run. Williams added the point after both scores to make the score 28-0.
Turner would then add one last score on a Soliday to Xavier Thomas 75-yard pass play. Thomas took a Berrien defender into the end zone.
Berrien scored late on a 43-yard touchdown pass from Shawn Witt to Quinton Tisby.
Turner had 198 yards rushing on 36 carries, and 167 passing.
Soliday was 11-for-18 for 167 yards passing with two touchdowns and one interception.
Lamb added 15 rushes for 128 yards, and Thomas had 117 yards receiving on five catches.
Turner will host Lanier next week, while Berrien will host Fitzgerald.

Tift County almost pulled off an incredible feat this year, having two teams in the baseball quarterfinals.. It was a great year for baseball at all area schools, all eight of them in the postseason. Both Kyle Kirk's Tift County Blue Devils and Brad Porter's Tiftarea Academy Panthers came within an eyelash of doing even better: the final four.
