Mrs. Mildred Tucker Flowers, 93, of Tifton died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with Dr. Ches Smith III officiating. Burial will follow at
CoOakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Grandsons serving as pallbearers are David Driggers, Doug Petty, Richard Petty, Clint Flowers, Matthew Driggers, Brad Padgett and Austin Petty.
Born on May 6, 1919 to the late Henry Roy Tucker and Addie Creed Tucker, she lived all of her life in Tift County. Mrs. Flowers spent her life as a homemaker, an excellent seamstress, a proud grandmother, a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton and was the last surviving member of the “Worthwhile” Sewing Club. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and enjoyed cooking, sewing, needle-point and singing with the members of the Joyful Sound Choir of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Johnny Flowers; one brother, Ralph W. Tucker; and two son-in-laws, the Rev. Buddy Driggers Jr. and Charles C. Petty.
Survivors include one sister, Cassie Tucker McLeod of Toccoa; two daughters, Betty F. Driggers of Tifton and Linda F. Petty of Chula; and one son, John Larry Flowers (Beth) of Avery; eight grandchildren, David Driggers of Ashburn, Debbie Driggers Padgett of Chula, Doug Petty of Chula, Richard Petty of Valdosta, Tammy Petty Lowit of Alpharetta, Tracie Petty Wildes of Canton, Karman Flowers Coursey of Moxley and Clint Flowers of Matthews; 14 great-grandchildren, Ashley Driggers Williams, Becky Padgett Hankins, Brad Padgett, Austin Petty, Anna Petty, Mandolyn Howard, Kamry Howard, Maggie Wildes, Brookes Wildes, Sophia Lowit, Dawson Lowit, Trent Flowers, Remington Coursey and one great-great-grandchild, Riley Williams.
The family will be gathering at the Flowers home place, located at 2814 Rainwater Road in Tifton. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Hospice of Tift Area, at PO Box 747, Tifton, GA 31793-0747; American Cancer Society 323 Pine Avenue, Albany, GA 31701; or American Heart Association 222 Chesnutt Avenue, Tifton, GA 31794-4442.

Ernie Banks used to say, "let's play two." In a game that was as long as two and was defined early on by errors and later by a pitching duel, it would be offense that propelled the Tattnall Square Trojans past the Tiftarea Academy Panthers, 6-2 in 14 innings. Tattnall, who won the first game of the series, 4-1 before dropping game two, 6-3, will meet Mount de Sales in the Class AAA semifinals next week.
