ABAC’s Oliver Snaider and Ricky Symanski advanced to the ITA Small College National Championship by winning the doubles crown at the region tournament last weekend. They will join seven other doubles teams playing for the junior college national title when they travel to Mobile, Ala. for the tournament that is taking place Oct. 11-14. ABAC came up just short in men’s singles finals and women’s doubles finals.
On the first day of the tournament, Snaider and Symanski topped a Georgia Perimeter duo of Eric Verdi and Preston Samowitz. In the finals Saturday, Snaider and Symanski faced another team from Georgia Perimeter, Jerel Pleasant and Gelawdiyos Haile and defeated them, 6-2, 6-1.
Snaider would see Pleasant again in men’s singles finals, Pleasant winning 6-3, 7-5. Though defeated, Snaider is waiting to hear if he will be awarded an at-large selection for the tournament in Mobile.
In women’s doubles, Maggie Dowling and Lorraine Chon Qui advanced to the finals, but were defeated by a Georgia Perimeter team, 6-1, 6-0.

Tattnall Square tops Tiftarea, 6-2
Ernie Banks used to say, "let's play two." In a game that was as long as two and was defined early on by errors and later by a pitching duel, it would be offense that propelled the Tattnall Square Trojans past the Tiftarea Academy Panthers, 6-2 in 14 innings. Tattnall, who won the first game of the series, 4-1 before dropping game two, 6-3, will meet Mount de Sales in the Class AAA semifinals next week.
