Betty Jo Stanford Owens

ASHBURN — Betty Jo Stanford Owens, 76, a resident of Ashburn, GA, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Sycamore Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Visitation will be held Monday, October 1, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn.

Mrs. Owens is survived by her husband, James Alton Owens of Ashburn, one daughter, Debbie Lunsford (Mike) of Wetumpka, Alabama and three grandchildren, Shanna Lunsford of Orlando, Florida and Kristen and Brady Lunsford of Wetumpka, Alabama. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Millie Stanford and a brother, Dane Stanford.Mrs. Owens retired from a successful career with Georgia Federal State Inspection Service to her home and gardens in the country. She was a gifted gardener who loved to work with her flowers and plants. Her greatest spiritual gift was that of a caregiver. At any opportunity she was there to care for anyone who needed care or help in sickness or health throughout the years. Through her own health battle she faced death with strength and courage.

She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and Nana who loved her Lord. A member of Sycamore Baptist Church, her joy was serving and caring for her family, friends and community.
