NASHVILLE —
Pearlie A. Nash, 96, of Nashville died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at Berrien County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Irwin County. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday.
He was born Jan. 9, 1916 in Irwin County (Springhill Community) to the late Charlie Nash and the late Martha Ann Harper.
He was a member of the Nashville First Baptist Church and served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Civil Service with Moody AFB as a mechanic. He also worked for various car dealers as an inspector. He truly loved working in his yard with flowers and received the Yard of the Month in June of 2002. He also enjoyed NASCAR. He married Marie Metts on Nov. 9, 1946 and were married for 58 years until her death on Feb. 24, 2005. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Osie Nash and Lonnie Nash; and two sisters: Mary Jane Nash Parker and Fannie Nash Johnson.
He is survived by a sister: Blannie Nash McEwen of Salem, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville is in charge of arrangements.

Tiftarea-Tattnall split
The quarterfinals series between the Tiftarea Academy Panthers and defending state Class AAA champions Tattnall Square Trojans matched up two of the top teams in the state and after two games, the battle has been a stalemate. The Trojans won the first game 4-1, while the Panthers took game two, 6-3. Game three will be today at 2 p.m.
