TIFTON —
A trip to Macon saw the Tiftarea Academy Panthers return with a single win in four games against the Tattnall Square Trojans Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers fell to 6-9 after a 59-30 loss. Caitlyn Albritton scored a team high seven points while Tattnall’s Ivey Slaughter netted 31.
In the boys game, the Trojans won, 55-45. Ethan Mims led Tiftarea with 12 points and seven rebounds while Josh Hancock contributed eight.
Hancock was also among the leaders in the junior varsity boys game which saw the Panthers take home their only win of the evening, 44-38. They are now 5-1 on the year.
Hancock had nine points, second to Levi Moore’s 10.
The junior varsity girls now stand at 2-2 after being defeated, 48-37.
Erin Register’s 14 and Mary Margaret McGarr’s 12 paced the Lady Panthers.

Tift County almost pulled off an incredible feat this year, having two teams in the baseball quarterfinals.. It was a great year for baseball at all area schools, all eight of them in the postseason. Both Kyle Kirk's Tift County Blue Devils and Brad Porter's Tiftarea Academy Panthers came within an eyelash of doing even better: the final four.
