Rants and Raves for Jan.. 10-11

Thanks pastor

“This is for Pastor Harvey at Mt Zion Baptist Church, who also serves at the soup kitchen. You have served me and my husband and you are such a wonderful person and man of God. Mt Zion is blessed to have you.”

Keeping my money

“I plan to take my sav- ings out of the market and hide it under the mat- tress. The Republicans are obviously ready to crash the economy to get their way.”

Guns for sport

“Just because you don't need a 30 round magazine doesn't mean other people don't enjoy them. Guns are not just for hunting. They are for sport too. I've never seen a rifle assault anyone. ”

Not written for that

“The Second Amend- ment was not written to assuage the paranoia of delusional conspiracy theorists.”

A cover-up?

“If the purpose of the Second Amendment was to protect against a tyran- nical government, I won- der why the framers of the Constitution didn't just say that. Maybe the part about a well-regulat- ed militia was some sort of cover-up.”

Sad to say

“I think it is sad that the City of Omega wants to spend money to fix the sidewalks on a street that is not state approved and to ignore the needs of their police officers and their families and not give them a raise. Sad to say this, but it looks like Omega needs someone else running it.”

No trust

“The Speaker of the Georgia House opposes a ban on gifts to legislators by lobbyists. He says it would just drive such spending underground. He doesn't even trust the legislators to follow the law.”

Not to blame

“Teachers, like the rest of us, would like to have a raise. We need one just to offset the tax increases that we'll see in our first paychecks this year. How- ever, we'll do well just to avoid a pay cut in this Obama economy. At least we didn't vote for him and are not to blame for Oba- ma days. ”

Not written for that

“Let's see ... a raise in hotel/motel taxes, pho- to/electronic tickets at the two busiest intersec- tions used by tourists and an ever-present speed trap on I-75 at Southwell Blvd. In what universe are such doings a sign of a ‘friendly city’?”
