The Turner County Rebels had a busy weekend, taking down the Echols County Wildcats on the road in Region 2-A action and sweeping the Crisp County Cougars at home.
Friday at Statenville, the Lady Rebels jumped on their opponents early. They were up 27-6 at halftime. Echols was held to only one point in the second and two points in the third, being outscored 36-3.
The shortened final period saw Turner emerge as the 58-17 winner.
Two Turner players contributed as much individually as the entire Lady Wildcats offense. Antania Graddic scored 20 and Zenia Coley added 17.
In the boys game, Echols was reasonbly close at the half, down 27-14, but the Rebels came out firing in the second half. They scored 21 in the third and added 22 more in the fourth.
The Cats were only able to muster 22 points in response and Turner took the victory, 70-36.
Devontae Curtis had an impressive night for his team, netting 28 points. Nyshawn Davis also reached double digits for Turner with 12.
Saturday against Crisp County in Ashburn, the Rebels needed second half magic to take care of the Cougars.
Crisp was ahead by a basket after a single quarter, but the score was tied at halftime at 28. Turner would then double the Cougars in points in the next eight minutes, outscoring them 20 to 10.
The Rebels would not be finished. They exploded for 30 more points in the final quarter, winning 78-60.
Curtis had another big night, scoring 21 points. Antonio Graddic added 15. The Rebels are now 12-3.
In the girls contest, Turner led 13-9 after the first and expanded that to a 25-18 halftime lead. The final two quarters saw them slowly extend the lead to nine after the third and they increased that in the fourth for the 46-35 win.
Coley led the Lady Rebels with 12 points and Graddic had 15. Freshman Mylashia Yancey scored 10.
Turner hits the road tonight when they travel to Warner Robins to play Class AAAAA Northside.

County millage rate remains same
Tift County Commissioners voted unanimously in a called meeting Tuesday to keep the millage rate set at 12.183 for both incorporated and unincorporated areas of the county.

I was able to take a trip down to Tampa this past weekend with my mom to see my niece in her dance recital.We didn’t get to see her dance in her recital. She kept saying she was sick, and we all kept saying, “You’ll be OK...it’s just nerves.”
