Meeting
TIFTON — The Wiregrass Crafters Guild meets every Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon in the lobby of the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village. The ladies meet to craft together, share tips and new techniques. Knitting, quilting, crochet, applique, any and every craft is enjoyed. Membership is free and anyone is welcome.
Donations needed
TIFTON — The Salvation Army needs donations of canned food items and clothing. They are also looking for volunteers. Come by The Salvation Army Service Center at 1205 Highway 82 E. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

Al Anon
TIFTON — Tiftarea Al Anon family group meets every Tuesday at noon at First Presbyterian Church of Tifton. Al Anon is for those concerned with someone else’s drinking. It is a 12-step program of recovery adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous. The only requirement for membership is that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend.
NARFE meets
TIFTON — The NARFE (Federal Retirees) meets the second Thursday of each month at Ole Times Country Buffet on Highway 82 West. All military, postal, Social Security, USDA and other federal employees/retirees may attend. Call Bill Wiseman at 382-4137 or Bob Hellwig, 382-2778.
Tea Party

Downtown Farmer's Market opens Saturday
The Downtown Development Authority has announced the 2013 opening of the Downtown Tifton Farmer’s Market May 18 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The market, located on the platform of the historical Tift Terminal Railway Museum, will feature the new streetscape including enhanced landscaping, new sidewalks for easy accessibility and so much more.

Tiftarea-Tattnall split
The quarterfinals series between the Tiftarea Academy Panthers and defending state Class AAA champions Tattnall Square Trojans matched up two of the top teams in the state and after two games, the battle has been a stalemate. The Trojans won the first game 4-1, while the Panthers took game two, 6-3. Game three will be today at 2 p.m.
