Literacy Volunteers of Tifton-Tift County isn’t just serving chocolate at Chocolate Classic 2013. It will also auction a 2006 Harley Davidson Indian motorcycle. The bike can be previewed at The Bistro at 219 from now until the event.
“Motorcycles are sexy and chocolate is romantic. It is a perfect fusion to set the mood for Valentine’s Day,” said Liz Carson Keith, Chocolate Classic chairman,. The event will showcase 10 local vendors and their chocolate creations.
“It’s going to the be most delicious party ever held downtown,” she said. Each vendor will feature a chocolate display of their dessert, along with samples for party-goers to taste. Merrymakers can sip milk, coffee, wine, or champagne while voting on Best Taste, Best Presentation, and Best in Show.
“It’s a way to have an elegant date night with your special love, your best friend, or your family,” Keith explained. “Couples gain admission for $15.00, and single guests pay $10.00. Children are free. Advance tickets may be bought at Giggles or The Bistro at 219 or call 229-382-0505.

“Chocolate Classic 2013 will benefit programs that Literacy Volunteers sponsors,” Dr. John Hamm, LV president, explained. LVTTC helps adults to prepare for the GED test, the High School Graducation Test, COMPASS, and ASVAB tests, as well as helping indigent students pay for GED test fees. LV also collaborates with Moultrie Technical College to offer English language classes and basic skills instruction.
“Whenever we are able to help a student increase his or her educational level, we have benefited our community,” Keith said. “Each person who gets a GED diploma or completes his or her high school diploma can continue with job training at Moultrie Tech or ABAC. This enriches us all.”

Ernie Banks used to say, "let's play two." In a game that was as long as two and was defined early on by errors and later by a pitching duel, it would be offense that propelled the Tattnall Square Trojans past the Tiftarea Academy Panthers, 6-2 in 14 innings. Tattnall, who won the first game of the series, 4-1 before dropping game two, 6-3, will meet Mount de Sales in the Class AAA semifinals next week.
