Ira Wheelis Clements McDaniel, 79, of Tifton died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Tift Avenue Church of God. The Rev. Joseph L. Crumley and the Rev. Dan McEachin will officiate with burial to be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Macon Memorial Park with the Rev. Danny Joiner officiating.
Robert Clements, Nicholas Clements, Juan Osborn, Jonathon Osborn, Andrew Davis and Ethan King will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. McDaniel was born on Sept. 25, 1933 in Ocilla and was the daughter of the Rev. Hollis D. Wheelis and Iwilda Horton Wheelis, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Enoch Clements; two brothers; two sisters; and a great-grandson, Robert A. Clements Jr. She was a homemaker and had also worked in retail sales and for the City of Ty Ty. She was a member of Tift Avenue Church of God and was active in the Leroy Rogers Senior Center.
Mrs. McDaniel is survived by her husband, Eschol G. “Mack” McDaniel of Tifton; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Jean Clements of Macon; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Barry Davis of Warner Robins; a brother-in-law, Russell McDonald of Palatka, Fla.; three sisters, Agnes Swilley of Valdosta, Grace McBrayer of Tifton and Jeanette Culpepper of Lake Park; five grandchildren, Robert A. Clements, Tina Osborn, Nicholas Clements, Andrew Davis and Ashley Davis; and six great-grandchildren, Jonathon Osborn, Taylor Osborn, Jordyn Osborn, Marissa Clements, Kenneth Lassiter and Tabatha Lassiter.

The Minnesota Vikings qualified for the NFL playoffs Sunday with a 37-34 win over the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings will have a rematch with the Packers at 8 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the postseason Saturday in Green Bay. The game will be broadcast on WALB and NBC. It will be the first NFL playoff game for Tifton native Larry Dean (51), who leads the special teams for the Vikings.
