OMEGA — Teacher Olivia Hanie’s Special Hearts class at Eighth Street Middle School enjoy dropping off cardboard boxes, plastic and paper at the recycling drop-off site on Pecan Street, off of South Central Avenue, Wednesday morning. She said they usually deliver the items on Fridays, but because they’re out of school this Friday, they delivered the items Wednesday. The students collect plastic, cardboard, paper and cans. A recycling box has been placed in their classroom, as well as in two work rooms at the school, and they also collect boxes from the cafeteria staff. Hanie stated that the students really enjoy recycling and do a good job with it. She has two paraprofessionals, Jessica Fetchner and Vishala White, who work with her.

Tiftarea-Tattnall split
The quarterfinals series between the Tiftarea Academy Panthers and defending state Class AAA champions Tattnall Square Trojans matched up two of the top teams in the state and after two games, the battle has been a stalemate. The Trojans won the first game 4-1, while the Panthers took game two, 6-3. Game three will be today at 2 p.m.
