TIFTON —
Tuesday was a mixed day for two Tift County teams.
Facing off against the Coffee High Trojans in Douglas, the TCHS Blue Devil baseball team went to 2-2 in the Region 1-AAAAA standings with a 4-2 win over the host Trojans.
Meanwhile, back in Tifton at the Springhill Country Club, the Tift County Lady Devils finished third overall at the annual Blue Devil Invitational golf tournament.
In Douglas, Cole Janousek got the start on the mound and pitched a complete game, striking out six, while allowing only three hits and no earned runs.
He also led the team in hits, collecting two. Will Reinhardt, Nick Utley, Zach Bullard and Bobby Hughes each added a hit apiece.
Tift scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning.
After Reinhardt reached on an error, he advanced to second on a hit from Utley.
Blake Suggs then reached first after an error on a sacrifice bunt attempt, allowing Reinhardt to score.
Bullard then doubled in two, and Hughes drove the final run in on a sacrifice fly.
The Blue Devils will attempt to go above .500 in the league Friday at Lowndes High. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
At Springhill, the Lady Jackets of Thomas County Central emerged victorious after a long day of action at the Blue Devil Invitational with a score of 153.
Tift and Colquitt County tied for second with scores of 160. However, Colquitt’s third golfer had a better score than Tift’s, so the Lady Packers claimed second, due to that tie-breaker.
Kelsie Belan led Tift with a 79, while Brittany Jarrett came in with an 81.
The Lady Devils will be back in action Tuesday, April 3, in Moultrie at the Lady Packer Invitational.

Tattnall Square tops Tiftarea, 6-2
Ernie Banks used to say, "let's play two." In a game that was as long as two and was defined early on by errors and later by a pitching duel, it would be offense that propelled the Tattnall Square Trojans past the Tiftarea Academy Panthers, 6-2 in 14 innings. Tattnall, who won the first game of the series, 4-1 before dropping game two, 6-3, will meet Mount de Sales in the Class AAA semifinals next week.
