Kay Sheffer, 65, of Ocilla, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at her residence. No services are scheduled at this time.
Mrs. Sheffer was born October 26, 1947 in Del Norte, Colo. to the late Daniel Laverne and Bessie Faye Chester Grizzle. She worked in accounting for several businesses and was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Sheffer loved wolves and Native American artifacts, honoring her Cherokee and Choctaw heritage.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years: Dan Sheffer of Ocilla, two sons: Steven Joseph Laska and fiancé Lynn of Tifton, Wayne Thomas Laska of Denver, Colorado; step-son: Matthew Daniel Sheffer of Littleton, Colorado; and five grandchildren: Nicole Laska, Danny “Bud” Laska, Andrew Laska, Abigail Laska, and Courtney Sheffer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Tattnall Square tops Tiftarea, 6-2
Ernie Banks used to say, "let's play two." In a game that was as long as two and was defined early on by errors and later by a pitching duel, it would be offense that propelled the Tattnall Square Trojans past the Tiftarea Academy Panthers, 6-2 in 14 innings. Tattnall, who won the first game of the series, 4-1 before dropping game two, 6-3, will meet Mount de Sales in the Class AAA semifinals next week.
