TIFTON — The week of February 25 through March 1 was packed full of fun reading activities for Annie Belle Clark Primary School students. The school celebrated the birthday of famed children’s author Dr. Seuss with a different Seuss theme each day. The week concluded with “Read Across America Day” on Friday. Students dressed as their favorite story book characters. City of Tifton Mayor Jamie Cater read a Dr. Seuss book to students and lead the Character Parade through the ABC halls. Many guest readers read to classrooms during the day as well. Pictured on the front row, from left, are Lexi Raye Braselton, Juliana Hooks, Ainsley Toews and Emery Huggins. TPD Lt. Steve Hyman recognized by Tifton Sertoma Club Thursday
Steve Hyman, an officer with the Tifton Police Department, is all smiles after receiving the Tifton Sertoma Club's 2013 Service to Mankind Award, presented by Chad Alexander, past president of the club.

Proud of diamond accomplishments of Devils, Panthers
Tift County almost pulled off an incredible feat this year, having two teams in the baseball quarterfinals.. It was a great year for baseball at all area schools, all eight of them in the postseason. Both Kyle Kirk's Tift County Blue Devils and Brad Porter's Tiftarea Academy Panthers came within an eyelash of doing even better: the final four.
