TIFTON —
The ninth annual Tifton’s Biggest Loser weight loss competition to benefit the 2013 Relay for Life fundraising campaign begins Monday, January 7th. The competition is sponsored by Tifton Fitness & Wellness Center (TF&WC) and Rehabilitation Services of Tifton.
The 12-week competition begins with participants dropping by TF&WC, 1488 Old Ocilla Road, on Monday, January 7th between 7 am and 8 pm to register and weigh in. To reduce wait time on weigh in day, participants can pre-register by going to www.rehaboftifton.com.
The 2013 edition of Tifton’s Biggest Loser will feature teams. Teams of 4 to 8 people will compete for the cash prize. Participants who do not have their own team can be assigned to one.
Winners are determined based on the largest percent of weight lost. The TBL team(s) and the individual male and female that lost the largest percent of weight will win a cash prize. Weight is kept confidential.
The cost to compete is $40 per person. All competitors will receive an event cup and bag. Participants will get diet and exercise information to help them succeed in their weight-loss efforts. Competitors will also have limited access to Tifton Fitness & Wellness Center 3 days per week or can join the gym at a discounted rate.
Last year, 121 people participated in the competition, with a combined weight loss of 1,433 pounds in 12 weeks. The 2012 competition winners were:
