TIFTON —
Frances Withrow Dillard Holland, 90, of Arabi, formerly of Tifton, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at her son’s residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Jim Duggan officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Grandsons Allen Ledger, Jerry Rowland, Bruce Dillard, Chris Dillard, Taylor Hambrick and Cory Dunn will serve as pallbearers.
Born Dec. 11, 1922, in Carroll County to the late Rev. Oscar Jackson Withrow and Ann Whittington Withrow, Mrs. Holland was also preceded in death by her first husband, George K. Dillard to whom she was married from 1940 until his death in 1980, her second husband, Sewell Holland, to whom she was married from 1983 until his death in 2000; her sisters, Louise Erwin and Ruth Daniel; her brother, James Withrow; and a granddaughter, Laura Rowland Royal.
Mrs. Holland had lived in Tifton since 1942. Her father was a Methodist minister in the North Georgia Conference and retired in Americus at Magnolia Manor until his death in 1975. Mrs. Holland and her first husband were long-time residents of Tifton, and she and her second husband also resided in Tifton but lived summers in North Carolina. She graduated from Jones County High School in 1940 and was employed for 30 years as a film inspector for the Georgia Department of Education. Mrs. Holland was a wonderful mother and homemaker, and a great cook who enjoyed baking for her family and friends. She loved working in her yard as long as her health allowed her to do so, and she also enjoyed sewing. Mrs. Holland volunteered at Tift Regional Medical Center as a Pink Lady and was a member of the Gideon Auxiliary. She was a member of the Tifton First United Methodist Church for 70 years.
Mrs. Holland is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Jane Dillard of Arabi and Tommy and Mimi Holland of Jonesboro; her daughters and son-in-law, Carol D. Hambrick of Aberdeen, N.C., and Dianne D. and Jerry Rowland of Americus; her grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer R. and Allen Ledger of Americus, Jerry M. Rowland Jr., and Dana Rowland of Fort Valley, Chris Royal of Vienna, Bruce and Gina Dillard of Enigma; Chris Dillard of Thomasville, Beth Lawry of Sheboygan Falls, Wisc., Heather and Cory Dunn of Southern Pines, N.C., Deirdre and Shawn Williamson of Winnabow, N.C., Taylor Hambrick of Aberdeen, N.C., Jon and Michelle Holland of Jonesboro, and Brian and Ginney Holland of Duluth; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
