Turner falls in wild scoring spree at Northside

TIFTON —  It took a wild fourth quarter for the Northside Eagles to escape the Turner County Rebels, one that saw 59 combined points scored in eight minutes.

There were early indications that this would be a high scoring night, as the Eagles had a 41-34 lead at halftime. Turner cut it down to four entering the final period, but while Northside had an impossible time defending the Rebels, Turner was unable to keep the host team out of the baskets, either.

Turner had 21 points in the final quarter, Northside 38, the scoreboard reading 98-77 at the finish.

Antonio Graddic’s 18 led the way with 18, with Shaq Baldwin close with 17. Quan Hillmon was also in double digits with 11.

The Lady Rebels had a much better night. They had a five-point on the Lady Eagles after a quarter, expanding it to eight — 21-13 — at halftime.

Northside cut the lead back down to five at the end of three, but were held to eight points in the fourth. In the meantime, Turner responded with 15 points of their own to take the 46-34 win.

Antania Graddic was top gun for Turner with 13 points. Zenia Coley added 12 and freshman Mylashia Yancey scored 10.

The Rebels return home Friday when the Lanier County Bulldogs come to town for a pair of Region 2-A games.
