TIFTON —
A 20-year-old Tifton man was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute Jan. 25 after an investigation into drug activity at his residence.
According to a press release from the Tift County Sheriff’s Office and the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force received by The Tifton Gazette Thursday, the TCSO received information relating to possible drug sales at 217 Goff St. Investigators with the TCSO and agents with the MSNTF conducted and investigation into the alleged illegal activities and were able to gather enough probably cause to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
Sherrod Woods, 217 Goff St., was charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and further charges are expected in the case. According to the press release, when agents and deputies served the search warrant, several people were there with Woods. When the residence was deemed secure, the agents and deputies began their search and recovered approximately 27 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, scales, baggies, a sawed off shotgun and a stolen Beretta 9mm pistol.
