TIFTON —
Vera Harrell Duckworth, 95, of Tifton died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at the Dillard House Personal Care Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. K.C. Stevens will officiate with burial to follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 until 3 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals prior to the service.
Mrs. Duckworth was born on June 28, 1917 in Dodge County and was the daughter of Jap Harrell Sr. and Mamie Kirkley Harrell, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Duckworth Sr.; one son, Donnie W. Duckworth; three sisters; and two brothers. She was retired from Tift General Hospital and was the oldest member of Trinity Baptist Church in Martinez, where she was a member of the Ladies Sunday school class. She was a long-time resident of Tifton until moving to Evans 12 years ago.
Mrs. Duckworth is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, R. L. Duckworth Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Evans; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie and K.C. Stevens of Thomson and Marcia and J. R. Skinner of Ashburn; two brothers, Selma Harrell of Okeechobee, Fla., and Edwin Harrell of Winter Haven, Fla.; one sister, Dorothy Tice of Samson, Ala.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren.
