TIFTON —
Eight members of the Tift County Young Farmers attended the 43rd annual convention of the Georgia Young Farmers Association in Athens Jan. 25-26. During the convention, members had the opportunity to attend educational sessions on a variety of agriculture-related topics proposed to help farmers become more efficient. There were also sessions on incentives to encourage farmers to add extra value to their products.
Tift County was well represented as members submitted entries in the chapter award contest and the farm family contest. Members also submitted entries in all three categories of the photography contest as well as competed in the farm management contest. During the business session of the convention, the Tift County Young Farmer chapter was represented by two delegates.
For further information on the Young Farmer program, contact Tift County Young Farmer Advisor Steve Hobbs at Tift County High School at 387-2475.

Tattnall Square tops Tiftarea, 6-2
Ernie Banks used to say, "let's play two." In a game that was as long as two and was defined early on by errors and later by a pitching duel, it would be offense that propelled the Tattnall Square Trojans past the Tiftarea Academy Panthers, 6-2 in 14 innings. Tattnall, who won the first game of the series, 4-1 before dropping game two, 6-3, will meet Mount de Sales in the Class AAA semifinals next week.
