Benjamin Franklin Busbin

WATERLOO — Benjamin Franklin Busbin, 92, lifelong resident of the Waterloo community, died March 8, 2013 at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Waterloo Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Pangle and Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Entombment will follow at the Waterloo Area Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. Grandsons and nephews of Mr. Busbin will serve as pallbearers.

Born January 8, 1921 in Irwin County to the late Henry H. Busbin and Tyus Veal Busbin, Mr. Busbin was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ros Anne Willis; five brothers; and six sisters. Mr. Busbin, a farmer, enjoyed his farm and gardening. He was the cook for the Long County Hunting Club for many years and loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Waterloo Baptist Church.

Mr. Busbin is survived by his wife of 74 years, Ruth Hester Busbin of Waterloo; two sons, Frederick Busbin of Waterloo and A.D. Busbin of Ocilla; two daughters-in-law, Lynn Busbin of Waterloo and Brenda Busbin of Ocilla; four sisters, Jewel Robinson and Bernice Duckworth, both of Warner Robins, and Jackie Hampton and Norma Baker, both of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Lee and Kim Busbin and Jill and Jeff Davis; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.

The Minnesota Vikings qualified for the NFL playoffs Sunday with a 37-34 win over the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings will have a rematch with the Packers at 8 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the postseason Saturday in Green Bay. The game will be broadcast on WALB and NBC. It will be the first NFL playoff game for Tifton native Larry Dean (51), who leads the special teams for the Vikings.
