Fire Chief: Five arsons don’t appear to be connected

TIFTON — The house fire on U.S. Highway 319 North and the vehicle fire in the area of Clint Circle are being investigated as arson, confirmed Fire Chief Mike Coleman at the Tifton-Tift County Fire Department.

He told The Gazette Wednesday that the arson investigator is following leads.

These two incidents, along with three others reported in late August at Budget Car Sales and H & H Convenience Store (two separate fires occurred here), totals five arsons that have occurred in the Tifton area within a three-week span.

When asked if any of them are connected, Coleman stated, “There’s nothing to make us believe that they’re connected in any way at this point.”
