Lady Rebels blast Wilcox Co

TIFTON — The Turner County Rebels split Saturday’s games with the Wilcox County Patriots in games played in Rochelle.

The Lady Rebels had little trouble with their oppoents, decimating the Lady Patriots, 61-12. They are now 9-3 on the season, and a perfect 5-0 in Region 2-A.

Wilcox turned the tables in the boys contest, ending the Rebels undefeated streak in the region with a 81-76 victory. Turner’s record falls to 9-3.

In the initial Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll that was published Sunday, Turner County is ranked No. 9 in Class A. Wilcox is No. 3. The poll combines public and private schools.

The Rebels will be busy this week. Tonight, they play the Telfair County Trojans in McRae. Friday sees them head south to Statenville for games with the Echols County Wildcats. They finally return home Saturday when the Crisp County Cougars come to Ashburn.
