Your Opinion: Pro-life writer takes on challenger’s Rant

A reader submitted a "rant" in the January 31 issue of the Gazette, challenging my question of why civilized societies would kill more than 50 million babies, when we no longer stone adulterers. The reader declared that the issues are unrelated.

It appears that this individual has not kept up with the exchanges of the last 10 days or so, which originated with a reader's comment in reference to my pro-life column in the January 13th issue of the Gazette  Therefore I will attempt to summarize and clarify this connection.

A comment in the "Rant and Rave" column that day read as follows:  "A pro-life columnist cites several Bible verses in support of her stand against abortion. Of course Bible verses can be found to support many different propositions. For example, if the pregnancy was the result of adultery, as many are, Leviticus would require that the woman be stoned to death."

I hope this clarifies the reason for my relating abortion with stoning adulterers. If it does not, I can provide copies of each rant and my response thereto, which resulted in the obvious question  of why "civilized people" (the reader's words, not mine) do not stone adulterers, but still kill innocent babies.
