Devils split with Pack

TIFTON —  

The Tift County Blue Devils split their Friday night games with the Colquitt County Packers. The Lady Devils lost, 52-43, while the boys skinned their opponents, 77-41.
Brakia Bateman led Tift with 17 points and Staceyanna Murrell scored eight. They are now 19-5.
For the Blue Devils, Tadric Jackson and Brannen Greene tied for scoring lead with 17 and Donell Tuff contributed 11. The victory was their 20th of the season against only four losses.
Tift County ends the regular season on the road tonight with a pair of varsity games at Valdosta. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.

The southern half of the 1962 Class AA girls state hoops tournament was played in Fitzgerald, despite Fitzgerald having dropped their girls program in 1957.
