Irwin County High cross country off to a good start

The Irwin County High cross country team opened its season last week at Coffee High, and finished second out of five teams. Irwin senior Robert Bledsoe finished first, giving the Irwin Indians their first cross country individual win in a number of years.  Irwin Coach Chuck Folker said, "Robert not only finished first he finished by a real good margin. The entire team of 11 ran very well with two others finishing in the top ten.” Those runners were Denzel Scott (sixth) and Luke Gamble (eighth).  Folker added, "I am especially proud of our team, Irwin was one of the smaller teams competing in the five-team meet.”  The Indians will compete again today at Fitzgerald High School beginning at 4 p.m.
