Geraldine Battle, 90, of Tifton, died Oct. 31, 2012. Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Beulah Hill Baptist Church Family Life Center, 321 Tifton-Eldorado Road. Mrs. Battle leaves to cherish her memories: her sons, Major Battle Jr., Jimmy (Judy) Battle, Benjamin (Dana) Battle, Horace Battle, Billy Fudge, Larry Fudge, John Fudge, David Fudge and Alim Renard Fudge; her daughters, Shirley (Barry) Brothers, Josie Ginwright, Brenda (Timthony) Smith, Eileen Jordan, and LaVerne (Allen) Williams, and one sister, Margaret Jennings. Services have been entrusted to Frank and Solomon Nixon Funeral Home. www.nixonfh.net.

Downtown Farmer's Market opens Saturday
The Downtown Development Authority has announced the 2013 opening of the Downtown Tifton Farmer’s Market May 18 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The market, located on the platform of the historical Tift Terminal Railway Museum, will feature the new streetscape including enhanced landscaping, new sidewalks for easy accessibility and so much more.

Tiftarea-Tattnall split
The quarterfinals series between the Tiftarea Academy Panthers and defending state Class AAA champions Tattnall Square Trojans matched up two of the top teams in the state and after two games, the battle has been a stalemate. The Trojans won the first game 4-1, while the Panthers took game two, 6-3. Game three will be today at 2 p.m.
