TIFTON —
Hunger, holiday gifts, music, poetry and a fun affordable evening meal merge Saturday, Nov. 10 for the fifth annual Arts, Eats ‘n Auction chili cook-off.
A sampling of many chili recipes plus cornbread and deserts is $5. Children under age 10 will be $2. Meals are not takeout.
The food box and outreach ministries of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church receive the proceeds, providing nutritious food to local senior citizens with documented needs every month.
Tifton’s best chili, cornbread and desserts can be sampled repeatedly from 6-8 p.m. in the church parish hall, 2411 Central Ave. North with individual entries vying for honors in each category.
Music during the first hour of dinner will be provided by St. Anne’s music director Stan Smith
The creative silent auction opens at 5:00 p.m. Selections include a pair of handcrafted Adirondack chairs, an antique wicker desk and chair, tennis lessons from Tifton’s tennis pros and a Christmas Elf to put together (in secret) Christmas toys before Santa’s arrival,
Also, a personal house concert, a basket full of good things for eyes, including a free eye exam and high quality sunglasses, a weekend at a beach house, commission for a pet’s portrait and a “Chef for a Day.”
Auction items also include personal hairstyling, a pizza box filled with certificates and tokens, books, food items, juggling lessons and a juggling performance, and additional services and goods.
Original works of art will be for sale; participating artists include Mary Ann Cox, Ann Clayton, Lisa Kent, Sarah Gibbs and Darlene Pilcher.
Donations of non-perishable healthy food items for the community senior citizen ministry will be accepted. Low sodium and low sugar products are needed most.
“This is a fine opportunity just before Thanksgiving to give from our abundance while supporting local artists and choosing creative, one-of-a-kind gifts for family and friends—and to have a fun evening with good food,” Community Outreach Chair Molly Berotti said.
Attendees can vote for their favorite chili, cornbread and desserts with “cash” ballots. All proceeds from the voting will support the outreach ministry.

Tattnall Square tops Tiftarea, 6-2
Ernie Banks used to say, "let's play two." In a game that was as long as two and was defined early on by errors and later by a pitching duel, it would be offense that propelled the Tattnall Square Trojans past the Tiftarea Academy Panthers, 6-2 in 14 innings. Tattnall, who won the first game of the series, 4-1 before dropping game two, 6-3, will meet Mount de Sales in the Class AAA semifinals next week.
