TIFTON —
The ABAC Stallions were upended Saturday by one comeback of the East Georgia Bobcats, 2-1, but were able to withstand another, 4-3, as the teams split a doubleheader in Tifton.
Matt Moses, who drops to 0-4 on the season, was nearly perfect in game one, but that did not keep ABAC from being heartbroken. Moses only gave up two hits while striking out 10 and walking one. No Bobcat hitter was able to muster an RBI, but an error allowed two runners to cross the plate in the top of the seventh inning to give them the victory.
The Stallions had built a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Jeremy Ammons singled in Adam Boan.
Brandon Cook of East Georgia had a good day on the mound as well. He held the Stallions to six hits, all of them singles and gave up a single earned run. Only one ABAC hitter, Boan, had multiple hits.
After having their hearts broken in the first game, the Stallions were able to emerge with a win in the second contest, though having very similar offensive numbers.Like game one, they were held to six hits with Boan again being the only Stallion with more than one hit.
The difference maker in this game was that ABAC was able to bring their runners home once they reached base. Neal Gandee, Brad Blount and Hayden Kudela each recorded an RBI. Gandee and Blount also scored two of the runs, with Cole Janousek and Tyler Hoag also crossing the plate. The latter two additionally each had a stolen base.
ABAC was again ahead early. The Stallions built a 3-0 lead for starter Aaron Westbury in the first inning. Westbury kept the Bobcats at bay until the sixth inning, when East Georgia struck for three runs and chased Westbury with one out.
Robert Nelson, who took over for the final 1.2 frames, struck out three and earned the win after the Stallions rallied for a run in the bottom of the seventh. His record improves to 2-0.
The Stallions host Georgia Perimeter today at 5 p.m.

May 21 Column – George F. Will
Leaving aside the seriousness of lawlessness, and the corruption of our civic culture by the professionally pious, this past week has been amusing. There was the spectacle of advocates of an ever-larger regulatory government expressing shock about such government's large capacity for misbehavior.
