Rufus Harris Sr., 85, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Crosland. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Luke Strong And Son Mortuary, Ltd.
Shelia Davis Guthrie, 48, of Adel, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Newbern officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. She is survived by her husband, Tony Guthrie of Adel; and two daughters, Kara Guthrie and Caitlin Davis, both of Adel. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Mrs. Guthrie's family. Boone Funeral Home is serving the Guthrie Family.
Esther Pearson Koopmann, 99, formerly of Albany, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. Among her survivors is her daughter, Carol Gardner of Tifton. Tiftarea-Tattnall split
The quarterfinals series between the Tiftarea Academy Panthers and defending state Class AAA champions Tattnall Square Trojans matched up two of the top teams in the state and after two games, the battle has been a stalemate. The Trojans won the first game 4-1, while the Panthers took game two, 6-3. Game three will be today at 2 p.m.
