TIFTON —
The Jay Deason Fund is excited to announce that the fifth annual Jay Deason Memorial Golf Tournament is coming up Monday, March 18 at Spring Hill Country Club in Tifton.
Please mark your calendars and plan to come out and help raise funds in support of the Tools for School program, The Jay Deason Memorial Scholarship at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College as well as other local youth-based charities.
The Tools for School program was established to provide supplies and educational necessities for local students who are in need. Most recently, the $3,000 annual contribution to Tools for School has specifically assisted the approximately 60 children in the Tift County school system who are classified as homeless.
The annual Jay Deason Memorial Scholarhsip scholarship targets aspiring Early Childhood Education majors at ABAC and its purpose is to help encourage young adults to pursue an education degree, maintain excellence in his/her pursuit of the degree and thereafter, to enhance the lives of the children they teach.
In addition to these annual programs, the Jay Deason Fund was also able to support other special causes in 2012. These inluded a donation of $1,000 to the medical fund of 6-year old Elena Shiver after she was diagnosed with leukemia and a donation of $2,000 to the Tift County High School for the purchase of the Study Island study software to assist with graduation tests.
The Jay Deason Fund prides itself in seeing that the highest percentage possible of each and every contribution reaches the end recipient, thus all time is 100 percent volunteer and we do not have any administrative costs. We encourage you to come out and participate in this exciting event and join us as we raise as much as we can for these local causes. If you can't be there, please consider an individual or company hole sponsorship for a $150 tax-deductible contribution, which includes your name or company name displayed at 1 of 18 holes, on the event T-shirt and banner as well as in The Tifton Gazette following the event.
