TIFTON —
John Ward Henderson Jr., 61, of Tifton died Friday, March 1, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Chad Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Rob Scott, Cooper Browning, Charles Courson, T.J. Hines, Melvin Hines, Chad Faucett, Lee Fletcher and Luke Fletcher will serve as pallbearers. The Tifton Masonic Lodge members will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Henderson was born June 3, 1951 in Tifton. His father, John Ward Henderson Sr., and his stepmother, Ann Rousey Henderson, as well as an infant sister, Donna Lynn Henderson, preceded him in death. He was raised by his grandmother, Gertrude Nelson Henderson, who also preceded him in death.
Mr. Henderson graduated from Tift County High School after which he attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He was the owner of Henderson Accounting in Tifton. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, he loved to cook and as a hobby, he ran a gun shop. Mr. Henderson was a member of the Shriners and the Masons. He was a Past Master of the Tifton Lodge #47 and the Tiftarea Lodge #745, an Ambassador to the Hasan Shrine Temple, a member of the Allied Masonic Degree and York Rite and was a member of Knight York Cross of Honor. He was of the Baptist faith.
On Dec. 14, 1979, Mr. Henderson married Renee Hines Henderson, who survives and resides in Tifton. He is also survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, John Ward Henderson III and Sarah Henderson of Cecil, Kalin Adam Henderson and Colby Ryan Henderson, both of Tifton; and four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sherri and Oddie Fultz of Doddridge, Ark., Brenda and Mike Fletcher of Chula, Kathy and Ron Autrey of Texarkana, Tx. and Christy Nelson of Milton, Fla.

Tattnall Square tops Tiftarea, 6-2
Ernie Banks used to say, "let's play two." In a game that was as long as two and was defined early on by errors and later by a pitching duel, it would be offense that propelled the Tattnall Square Trojans past the Tiftarea Academy Panthers, 6-2 in 14 innings. Tattnall, who won the first game of the series, 4-1 before dropping game two, 6-3, will meet Mount de Sales in the Class AAA semifinals next week.
