ALAPAHA —
Donald Bobby Billings, 50, of Alapaha, died March 3, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Ricky Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
Harlo Lovett, John Bowers, Dennis Sheppard, Wade Crumley, Brian Rowland, and Brandon White will serve as pallbearers, with Winston Brogdon, Arnold Brogdon, William Brogdon, Gary Dorminey, Carl Mathis, Chris Corken, Bill Bowen and Ricky Williams serving as honorary pallbearers.
Born November 3, 1962, in Hialeah, Fla., to the late James Soloman Billings and Mary Frances Smith Napier, Mr. Billings was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Kenneth Edward Napier, and one sister, Julie Billings McClung who died in 2012.
Mr. Billings graduated from Tift County High School in 1980 and later attended Moultrie Technical School where he studied drafting. Mr. Billings operated his own construction company, Bobby Billings Construction. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved animals and enjoyed attending cow shows. Mr. Billings attended First Baptist Church of Tifton.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Terri Billings of Tifton; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dee Dee and Jason Gershon and Tina and Mark Garrick, all of Enigma; two grandchildren, Dalton and Dixon Billings; two nephews, Benji Gershon and Cody Garrick; one niece, Amber Garrick and her fiance’ Tyler Edwards; his significant other, Paula McQuaig and her two sons, Fisher McQuaig and Paul McQuaig, all of Ocilla.

Tattnall Square tops Tiftarea, 6-2
Ernie Banks used to say, "let's play two." In a game that was as long as two and was defined early on by errors and later by a pitching duel, it would be offense that propelled the Tattnall Square Trojans past the Tiftarea Academy Panthers, 6-2 in 14 innings. Tattnall, who won the first game of the series, 4-1 before dropping game two, 6-3, will meet Mount de Sales in the Class AAA semifinals next week.
