TIFTON —
Tift Regional Medical Center and the TRMC Foundation will be hosting Patrick Reynolds as he speaks to groups in the area about the dangers of tobacco use.
Reynolds, grandson of tobacco company founder R.J. Reynolds, is an outspoken opponent of Big Tobacco and is executive director of the Foundation for a Smoke-free America.
There will be a free community lecture entitled “Tobacco Wars: The Battle for a Smoke-free Society” held at 6 p.m. March 19 at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center. Reynolds will also speak to students at J.T. Reddick School in Tifton and Ben Hill Middle School in Fitzgerald while in the area.
Reynolds serves as executive director of the Foundation for a Smoke-free America, a nonprofit group he founded in 1989.

County millage rate remains same
Tift County Commissioners voted unanimously in a called meeting Tuesday to keep the millage rate set at 12.183 for both incorporated and unincorporated areas of the county.

I was able to take a trip down to Tampa this past weekend with my mom to see my niece in her dance recital.We didn’t get to see her dance in her recital. She kept saying she was sick, and we all kept saying, “You’ll be OK...it’s just nerves.”
