The billboard at the intersection of U.S. Highway 82 and Magnolia Drive where a sign worker fell to his death July 31 now serves as a memorial to the young man. Friends of Daniel Dustin “E Dub” Merritt, 24, of Ocilla, also placed memorials and mementos, such as wreaths and crosses bearing Merritt’s birth and death date, at the site. Friends also wrote messages on the large metal pole holding up the billboard.
