TIFTON —
The Eighth Street Middle School Lady Devil softball team defeated Pine Grove 5-3, 9-3 Wednesday. The winning pitcher was Madison Robinson, who struck out 8 in each game. In the two games Brooke Carrington had 4 hits and 2 runs scored, Emma Rose Williams had 3 and 3 runs scored and Joslyn Reyes had 1 hit and 4 runs scored. Reyes had a good game behind the plate as the catcher while Laura Clark also played well in the two games at second base. Tift County almost pulled off an incredible feat this year, having two teams in the baseball quarterfinals.. It was a great year for baseball at all area schools, all eight of them in the postseason. Both Kyle Kirk's Tift County Blue Devils and Brad Porter's Tiftarea Academy Panthers came within an eyelash of doing even better: the final four.
