ASHBURN —
Frances Childs Ellis, 93, of Ashburn died Saturday at the Heritage Health Care following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ashburn First United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn
Mrs. Ellis was born in Cordele, the daughter of the late Hoyt B. and Mary E. Carmichael Childs. She was the former owner and operator of Ellis Farm Equipment and The Oak Tree in Ashburn. She was a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the Methodist Women, and the Church Council. She was an active member of the Turner County Arts Council; a former member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, and a former member of the Board of Community National Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton E. Ellis, and one granddaughter, Kim Ellis.
She is survived by her children: Richard Ellis and his wife, Sandra of Ashburn, William D. “Bill” Ellis and his wife, Phyllis of Cordele and Gloria E. Pylant of Ashburn. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
