TIFTON —
Donald Dean Carr, 71, of Tifton, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with Dr. Fred Evers and Mr. Doc Cates officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Stephen Carr, Jacob Carr, Josh Carr, Tommy Carr, Chad Walters, Greg Tyson, Jamie Walters and special friends Franklin Tanner and Albert Drexler will serve as pallbearers. The L. E. Samples Sunday School Class, the Wilda Walters Sunday School Class, and the Senior Adult Department, all of Northside Baptist Church, will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born June 26, 1941, in Tifton to the late Glennie Thomas Carr and Ruby Nina Tanner Carr, Mr. Carr was also preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Kitty Carr; and an infant sister, Sylvia Carr.
Mr. Carr retired in November 1992 as a transportation engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation. He served with the Georgia National Guard from 1961 to 1966. Mr. Carr loved his grandchildren and enjoyed woodworking and keeping his yard. He also loved sitting on his porch, fellowshipping with his friends, going to the coffee shop at Hardee’s and delivering Meals on Wheels. Mr. Carr had been a member of Northside Baptist Church since 1961,
Mr. Carr is survived by his wife, Joyce LaVerne Walters Carr, of Tifton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bryan D. and Jennifer Carr of Tifton, Walter G. Carr of Quantico, Va. and Douglas E. and Debra Carr of Warrenton, Va.; one special daughter-in-love, Becky Carr of Jacksonville, N.C.; his grandchildren, Hayden Carr of Tifton, Joshua, Tina, and Jacob Carr of Jacksonville, N.C., Stephen and Sarah Carr of Wake Forest, N.C. and Allison Carr of Warrenton, Va.; and two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Derrell and Dianne Carr of Chula and Randall G. and Jane Carr of Tifton.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, c/o Dorothy Royal, 2406 Diana Ave., Tifton, GA 31794.

I was able to take a trip down to Tampa this past weekend with my mom to see my niece in her dance recital.We didn’t get to see her dance in her recital. She kept saying she was sick, and we all kept saying, “You’ll be OK...it’s just nerves.”
