Laura Priest Black died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 at Crisp Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Perry Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at Perry Funeral Chapel. She is survived by her son, James "Jim" Black of Ashburn; as well as two daughters, Marlene B. White of Warwick and Deborah Shumake of Dalton. Mary Lynn Avera, 91, of Sparks died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Adel after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Westview Cemetery with the Rev. Bob McCranie, 73, of Adel died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Adel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God with the Rev. Scott Smith and the Rev. Chad Roland officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Greggs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Purvis Funeral Home. Survivors include his companion for 30 years, Velma Bennett of Adel; four sons, Marty McCranie of Adel, Steve McCranie of Adel, Gary McCranie of Adel and Danny Bennett of Sparks; two daughters, Debbie Stalvey of Barney and Melanie Hand of Adel; a brother, Junior McCranie of Adel; and two sisters, Wanda Folsom of Adel, and Oneta Folds of Sparks. I was able to take a trip down to Tampa this past weekend with my mom to see my niece in her dance recital.We didn’t get to see her dance in her recital. She kept saying she was sick, and we all kept saying, “You’ll be OK...it’s just nerves.”
