Homer Manning of Nashville died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bridge Church, 117 E. Washington St., with burial to follow at Eastview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 tonight at Black and Son Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Emma Lou Manning of Nashville; two sons, Donald Manning of Trion and Shannon Manning of Nashville; four daughters, Rosa Manning Davis, Charlotte and Melissa Manning of Nashville and Lisa Starkes of Ocala, Fla.; two brothers, Lester and Ronnie Lee Manning of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and two sisters, Lillie Mae and Rosetta Manning of Halburton. Black and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Johnnie L. Banks, 55, of Alapaha died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with burial to follow at West Fletcher Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 tonight at Taylor Family Funeral Service. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Banks of Cordele; son, Isaac Banks of Lillington, N.C.; stepson, Rodney Walker of Cordele; stepfather, Ulysses Hall of Tifton; brothers, Vernon Pearson of Tampa, Fla., Marion Banks, Elvis Banks and Greg Hall, all of Alapaha; and sisters, Helen Timmons and Virginia Banks of Alapaha and Robin Hill of Bridgetown. Michael Alexander Boyd of Sylvester died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Funeral services will be held at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Isabella with burial to follow at Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery.
Charlie Walker, 73 of Tifton died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. Saturday at St. John Holliness Church, Sixth Avenue, with burial to follow at Oakridge Cemetery. A repast will conclude at the Neighbrohood Service Center on South Central Avenue. Surviors include his children, Sharon Walker, Charlie Walker Jr., Trevia Green and Deidre Sears, all of Tifton; and two brothers, Noah Walker and Larry Brown. Patricia Ann Seif, 70, of Tifton died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. A private ceremony will be held at a later date. Born in Baltimore, Md., July 6, 1942 to George and Mary Sue Biscoe, both of whom preceded her in death, Mrs. Seif worked as an accountant for a medical imaging firm. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Mary Angel Sue and David Kotowski of Annapolis, Md., two grandsons, Robert Kenneth Racke and Russell Kenneth Racke; one granddaughter, Samantha Katchynn Racke and five great-grandchildren. I was able to take a trip down to Tampa this past weekend with my mom to see my niece in her dance recital.We didn’t get to see her dance in her recital. She kept saying she was sick, and we all kept saying, “You’ll be OK...it’s just nerves.”
