TIFTON —
The Tifton Police Department, with the assistance of the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office and the Tift County Sheriff’s Office, executed search warrants Thursday, July 19 at several locations in Tifton.
Locations that were searched included 417 W. 11th St.; 1112 S. Park; 608 Clyde Lane; 516 Poplar St., and one other residence where no arrests were made.
The warrants were the result of ongoing undercover investigations by the TPD Crime Suppression Unit. During the execution of the search warrants, law enforcement officers found crack cocaine and marijuana at four of the five locations.
The following individuals were arrested: Kathy Barber of 417 W. 11th St. was arrested on one count of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute; Willie Ellington Greene, 51, 1112 S. Park Ave., was arrested on two counts of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute; Rodney Andre Singleton, 33, 608 Clyde Lane, was arrested on one count of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and one count of possession of marijuana; Eddie Boston, 58, 516 Poplar St., was arrested on two counts of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute; Albert Nikita Pitts, 23, 314 Alder St., was arrested on one count of possession of marijuana (misdemeanor) and one count of obstruction of police officer (misdemeanor); and Andre Christopher Bryant, 33, 3305 Hill Ave., was arrested on one count of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.
“We’ve had a good response from our tip line: 229-391-3991,” said Lt. Steve Hyman, supervisor of the CSU. “I want to encourage people to continue using the tip line to leave information about drug sales, drug houses, thefts, neighborhood crimes and other neighborhood nuisances. The more information we receive from citizens, the more effective law enforcement can be in tracking and reducing crime.”
Hyman said that the CSU follows up on calls received on the tip line. and that when they receive a tip, it’s assigned to a CSU officer to follow up and investigate the complaint.
