TIFTON —
On Saturday, Jan. 19, men in the local community and surrounding areas are invited to participate in a “new DNA-new spirit-new way of living-new change” and a spirit-filled day at the Little River Missionary Baptist Convention annual Men’s Conference at Springfield Baptist Church on MLK Drive. The conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. with lunch to follow.
The Rev. Willie B. Pride, association president, said the conference will be filled with encouragement by speakers, worship music by the Male Choir of Alma and much more. The Rev. Curtis Raines Sr., president of the General Missionary Baptist Convention, will be the special guest speaker. He will deliver in both song and word, a preacher and lover of all people — “Love is What Love Does” in Christ.
Raines, an ordained minister with a Master of Pastoral Ministry from Emmanuel Bible College, is currently serving as pastor of New Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Macon and Mount Zion Baptist Church in Bolingbroke. He is very active in the GMBC, having held several positions, as well as active in the Bibb County Community where he has received numerous awards and recognitions for his outstanding contribution to the community. He is married to Barbara Tharpe and has four children.
Pride is encouraging all men to attend and embrace the word of God.

Identity Theft: Do all you can to protect your credit, debit cards

Unfortunately, so do identity thieves. They set up machines called skimmers on gas pumps and ATMs that are designed to fool you and benefit them. The devices read your debit or credit card and record the number, which the thief can collect by retrieving the skimmer or even remotely using a smartphone and a wireless Internet connection. The information will then be used to create a duplicate card bearing the number, but a different name. - Tift Sheriff’s Office investigating scam

Fields played, coached three eras of basketball
Imagine a player averaging 29 points per game for a career and receiving no college scholarship offers. That happened to Dona Fields.
Fields, as Dona Gaskins, is easily Berrien High's all-time leading scorer. She scored her 1,000th point as a sophomore and during her last three seasons was the Rebelettes' leading scorer in every game. She received no college attention, no offers. - Kilgore resigns baseball post at ABAC
