The Georgia Champion Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging Team from Tift County received fourth place honors at the National Consumer Decisions Contest held in conjunction with the Western National Roundup in Denver, Colo. recently. Team members were Anna Johnson, Miles McDonald, Ben Branch and Conor Dunn. Miles Drummond and Ashley Davis served as the team coaches. In addition to the fourth place award, the team and its members earned several other honors, including third place overall for judging, fourth place overall for reasons and fifth place overall for group process. In addition, Anna Johnson received second place high individual for judging/placing and was second high overall individual in the nation, and Conor Dunn was part of a five-way tie for third in reasons. After all the tie breaking, Dunn was seventh overall. "We congratulate the Tift County team on their excellent achievement," says the Tift County Extension Agent, 4-H. “Keep calm and stop the violence,” “Save our streets” and “No more violence” were the words echoed by Eighth Street Middle School students early Tuesday morning as they stood in front of the school behind caution tape and orange cones, shouting and holding up signs as they waved at passing motorists who smiled and returned the gesture.

Two from Tift named 1st team All-Region
The Tift County Blue Devils, who were only just barely eliminated in the state quarterfinals, placed two players on the All-Region team for 1-AAAAAA. The region, which sent three teams to the elite eight in the state tournament, named Lowndes’ Danny Redshaw Coach of the Year.
